Here is an original charcoal drawing on a laid paper of a nude female study by Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904- 1997). Untitled, 1937. Signed and dated to the lower right by the artist. In great condition with moderate toning to paper, stronger towards edges of the paper; edgewear to paper with brittleness resulting in tears along the lower edge and cut upper right corner; smudges and loose charcoal throughout. Measures 11.25" W x 17.0" H x 0.1" D.
About the Artist:
Edgar Yaeger is a listed artist known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression-era. Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
